
Lanell F. Thompson, 80, of Sikeston, died January 12, 2015, at her home. Born April 3, 1934, in Potts Camp, Miss., to the late Graham and Estelle Luther Waldrep, she retired from REA following fifteen years of service. She was a member of the Bertrand Methodist Church. On July 27, 1984, in Sikeston, she married James Wilbert Thompson, who preceded her in death on May 31, 2013.
Survivors include: one son, Robert Kindred of Sikeston; one daughter, Angela Freeman of Perryville; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Martha and Kenny Blankenship of Houston, Texas, Linda and Alvin Walls of Auburn, Ala., and Theresa and Melvin Estes of Covington, La.; one stepson, Brent Thompson of Wise, Va.; and two stepdaughters, Kay Kriesel and Lisa Sell, both of Sedalia. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, six step grandchildren and nine step great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Ray Butler and Claude Butler; two brothers and three sisters.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 16.
Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.
