
Frances Marie Pharris, 99, of Sikeston, died Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at her residence. She was born May 3, 1912, in Oak Ridge, MO, to the late Charles D. and Edith Greable Cotner. She was employed as vice president of the First National Bank in Somerton, AZ, until her retirement. She then returned to Sikeston, assisting her son and daughter-in-law as bookkeeper for the Flower Basket in Sikeston. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. On February 3, 1930, in Sikeston, she was married to Emory “Sharron” Pharris, who preceded her in death on March 24, 2003.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy C. and Neva Pharris of Sikeston; two grandchildren and their spouses, Ginger and Kent Miller of Sikeston and Jim and Judy Pharris of Sikeston; and three great grandchildren, Daniel Pharris, Jordan Miller and Byron Miller. Also surviving are one nephew and his wife, Charles “Chuck” and Sharon Gass.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one great grandson, Jason Pobst; and one sister, Elsie Gass.
Visitation will be from 10:00am until time of the funeral service at 11:00am on Thursday, October 6, at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Geoff Posegate, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Sikeston, officiating.
Interment will follow at the Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
Pallbearers will be: Kent Miller, Byron Miller, Daniel Pharris, Kenny Stokes, Bill Stokes and Dwayne Lorenz. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Jones and Norman Jones.
