He was born on June 30, 1946, in Sikeston, Missouri, to the late George Newton Hubbard Sr. and Eufella Charlene Andrew Hubbard.
On December 31, 1966, in Vanduser, Missouri, George married Anita Kay Gossett. They shared more than 37 years of marriage before her passing on June 8, 2004.
George was a devoted member of Living Waters Church in Sikeston, where he faithfully served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and guitarist for the praise and worship team. He continued serving in these roles until his health required him to remain mostly homebound. Playing his Martin guitar was one of his greatest joys, and even after arthritis forced him to stop playing, he often shared how much he missed it.
He dedicated his entire career to the heating and air conditioning industry in the Sikeston area before retiring due to health reasons. George also proudly served in the Army National Guard for a number of years.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Ronna and Mike Moon of Sikeston, Missouri; his son and daughter-in-law, Ryan and Alesia Hubbard of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; his sisters, Barbara (Billy) Heuring of Sikeston, Wanda Hyde of Sikeston, and Alice (Maxie) Schrieber of Sikeston; his eight grandchildren, Johnathon (Misty) Chilton, Bethany (Levi) Limbaugh, Kally Hubbard, Chloe Smith, Braxton Smith, Della Smith, London Smith, and Landon Smith; his three great-grandchildren, Raelynn Chilton, Gavin Jones, and Bradyn Chilton; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his beloved wife, George was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Eastep and his longtime four-legged companion Zoe.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
