Grover Cleveland Lindsey, 93, of Sikeston, died December 21, 2012, at the Miner Nursing Center. Born December 14, 1919, in Hamilton, Ala., to the late William and Annie Ballard Lindsey, he served in the US Navy during WWII, stationed in the Pacific. He was a self-employed auto mechanic and a member of Sikeston VFW Post 1374. On December 23, 1939, in New Madrid, he married Pearl Zachary, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Merlin and Linda Lindsey of Hernando, Miss. and Bill and Barbara Lindsey of Sikeston; one daughter, Harriet Simmons of McKinney, Tex.; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Gary Lindsey; two brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be held Saturday, December 22, from 2:00-3:00pm at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel. Graveside services will immediately follow at the Garden of Memories Cemetery, with Rev. Kelley Grubbs, pastor of Murray Lane Baptist Church in Sikeston, officiating.
