James “Jim” Alvin Null was born on February 27, 1952, in Anniston, Missouri, to the late Dorothy Myrick Null and Everett Ray Null. He left his earthly home to meet his Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 9, 2025.
At the age of 27, Jim accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior, a decision that shaped the rest of his life. He loved sharing his faith with others—whether in the grocery store or around town—and was always ready to extend a warm invitation to visit his church. He was deeply honored to serve as a deacon at Murray Lane Baptist Church in Sikeston, where his love for the Lord was evident to all.
Jim proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps, stationed in Okinawa, Japan, and received his honorable discharge on May 2, 1973.
On January 20, 1984, Jim married Paula Glover in Sikeston, and together they built a life filled with love and faith. He is survived by Paula, his devoted wife of 41 years; his daughters Allison Cox (Justin) and Meredith Morgan (Bob); and three precious granddaughters, Carmen Polley, Harper Cox, and Piper Cox, who lovingly knew him as “Papaw.” Survivors also include the late Tony Null, his brother and Phyllis Gentile, his sister.
His family finds comfort in knowing he is with Jesus in Heaven, free and healed from Alzheimer’s disease.
A gifted craftsman, Jim found great joy in woodworking—a skill he learned from his father. His talent produced countless beautiful pieces of furniture, doors, vanities, mirrors, and desks. Family and friends knew they could always turn to him for help with a repair or a custom creation. His workshop was his “happy place,” and the pieces he crafted remain treasured reminders of his love and skill.
Jim dedicated 30 years of service to the Sikeston Board of Municipal Utilities in the water distribution department, where he formed many lifelong friendships and close bonds with his coworkers.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral service 1:00 p.m. at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, MO with Bro. Joe McCullough, pastor of Murray Lane Baptist Church in Sikeston, MO.
A private burial will be held at the Bloomfield Veterans Cemetery.
