He was born on January 11, 1943 in Urbana, IL. to Joan Wrather Phenicie who survives of Danville, IL. and the late Murray Phenicie.
On September 20, 1986 in Charleston, MO. he married Gwen Forbey Phenicie who survives of the home in Republic, MO.
Jay was a commodity broker, he owned Phenmar Inc. until his retirement in December 2020. Jay had a great love for the outdoors, he enjoyed golfing, water skiing and snow skiing. He was an avid biker, he rode across Iowa. Jay had a love for travel including visiting the Holy Land in Israel and serving on multiple mission trips to Haiti; he was involved in prison ministry too. Jay was a small aircraft pilot and he was a longtime board member of PWS #1 of Scott County.
In addition to his wife and mother he is survived by four sons, Shane Phenicie of St. Louis, MO., Joshua Phenicie of Tacoma, WA., Jonathan Hall of East Prairie, MO. and Jordan Phenicie of Billings, MO.; two daughters, Shanna Phenicie Taylor of Naples, FL. and Ashley Hall Adams of Ozark, MO.; two brothers, Melvin Phenicie of Ridge Farm, IL. and Dale Phenicie of Danville, IL. and thirteen grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2022 from 12:00 noon until time of funeral service at 3:00 p.m. at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, MO. with Phillip Richardson of Kansas City, MO., officiating.
Interment will be held on Friday, December 2, 2022 in Lindsey Cemetery in Republic, MO.
