

Jerry Lee Freshour, age 82, of Sikeston, died May 9, 2016, at the Miner Nursing Center. Born February 5, 1934, in Lepanto, Arkansas, to the late James Everett and Lydia Bounds Freshour, he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was the owner of Freshour Cycle in Sikeston from 1979 until his retirement in 2007, where he designed Freshour bicycles, which were sold to many. He was the builder of the Sikeston BMX Track, which he also operated for many years. He was a past president of the Sikeston Optimist Club and was also a recipient of the Sikeston Optimist Club Man of the Year award. He was a member of the Sikeston First United Methodist Church. On April 1, 1956, in Sikeston, he married June Daugherty, who survives of the home.
Additional survivors include: one son, Jerry Freshour of Sikeston; one daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Tony Sloan of Sikeston; one sister, Joyce Gossett of Hayti; two grandchildren and their spouses, Clay and Heather Sloan of Arnold and Bethany and Chris Day of Sikeston; and three great grandchildren, Nicholas Sloan, Lucy June Day and Kyle Day.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jim Freshour.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 13, in the Nunnelee Chapel, with Rev. Paul Lathum, retired Methodist minister, officiating.
Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston, with full military honors provided by the Missouri Military Honor Guard Unit.
