Joe Esther Williams

Joe Esther Williams, 101, of Sikeston, died May 16, 2012 at the Clearview Nursing Center in Sikeston. Born May 5, 1911, in Whitney, TX, to the late Sandy Jackson and Sitha Jane Jacques Brown, she was first married in the year 1928 to Samuel Franklin Eaton, who preceded her in death. She later married Thomas Smotherman in the year 1944, and he preceded her in death. She then married Turney Williams on January 31, 1970, and he also preceded her in death. Joe Esther was only able to complete sixth grade in school, but proudly received her GED at the age of 76.

Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Royal Jackson and Donna Eaton of St. Louis; and two daughters and sons-in-law, Pauline and Ray Williams of Sikeston and Susan Carol and Dave Ebert of Freemont, CA. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by 1 son, 6 brothers, 3 sisters, and 1 great grandson.

Visitation will be held at 10:30am until time of the funeral service at 1:00pm at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel on Monday, May 21, 2012, with Rev. Kelley Grubbs, pastor of the Murray Lane Baptist Church of Sikeston, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Idalia/Bluff Cemetery in Stoddard County.

Pallbearers will be Kent Eaton, Ryan Eaton, Joshua Mainzer, Joseph Adams, Cole Burnett and James Adams.
