

He was born on May 17, 1934 in Bridges, MO. to the late O.E. and Hallie Stout McKinnie.
Lynn Graduated from Diehlstadt High School where he met the love of his life, Anita Harper McKinnie. They were married at Bement Baptist Church on October 18, 1953 and they have been members there since that time.
Lynn served in the Army National Guard from 1954 to 1963.
Lynn was a lifelong member of Bement Baptist Church. He served the church in many capacities which included Sunday School Teacher, Training Union Teacher and as a Deacon; he served on numerous committees for the church as well. Lynn also helped provide the means to build a recreational building at the church in 2000 which was dedicated in the family name.
Lynn through his years at Barkett’s and National Foods developed a passion and interest in the grocery store business. He and his brother-in-law opened Learue and McKinnie Big Star in Miner, MO. He retired from Learue and McKinnie Big Star in the early 1980’s. For the next several years he spent time traveling and enjoying some time with his wife.
In 1994, Lynn returned to the grocery store business and opened McKinnie Bestway which was operated by Lynn and his son Terry for seventeen years before retiring in 2009.
He is survived by his wife Anita McKinnie of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Karen McKinnie of Sikeston, MO.; two granddaughters, Mitzi (Kelly) Laymon and Brooke McKinnie all of Sikeston, MO.; four great-grandchildren, Kyler Laymon, Mason Laymon, Logan Laymon and Colton Lynn Arnold; two nephews, Rowland (Brenda) McKinnie and James (Mary) McKinnie.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, O.E. McKinnie Jr.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 16, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, MO. where funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Darrin Hensley, pastor at Bement Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Charleston, MO.
Pallbearers will be Rowland McKinnie, Kevin White, Kelly Laymon, Kyler Laymon, Mason Laymon and Donnie Ward.
The family suggest that guest bring a can food item in memory of Lynn that will be donated to the Food Pantry after his service.
