

Maxine Waltrip, age 93, of Sikeston, died April 4, 2016, at the York Place Nursing Center in Bertrand. Born March 29, 1923, in Sikeston, to the late Augustus and Chloe Simpson Miller, she was a homemaker and member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. On December 1, 1943, she married William Harrison Waltrip, who preceded her in death on March 20, 2013.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Pam Waltrip of Sikeston; two grandchildren, Kim Waltrip and Aaron and Sara Waltrip; and one great grandchild, Raiden Waltrip.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Leon Miller; three sisters, Luella Hall, Alberta Hazel and Imogene Bruns; and five half-sisters, Sue Ann Lusk, Eva Mae Phillips, Bess Duncan, Genny Beck and Lena Cole.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 7, at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, with Billy Davis, officiating.
Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
