Michael David Proffer

He was born on February 14, 1943, in Cape Girardeau, MO to the late George Franklin and Ada Marguerite Shanks Proffer.

On December 27, 1962, in Matthews, MO he married Wanda Gail Graham Proffer who preceded him in death on May 12, 2022.

He is survived by one son, Darin Proffer of Matthews, MO; one daughter, Kristin (Eric) Towery of Sikeston, MO; one sister, Shabie Bird of Advance MO; and brother-in-law, Bruce Depro of Mathews, MO; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild; lifelong friends and cousins, Brent and Jeannie Shanks of Sikeston, MO; and special friends and caregivers, Page Davis and Lori Gant.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Thomas Proffer and George Proffer Jr.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 12:00 noon at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, MO. Pastor Jason Schrieber, of Living Waters Church in Sikeston, MO. will officiate.

Interment will follow in Matthews City Cemetery in Matthews, MO.

Pallbearers will be: Landin Proffer, Daniel Proffer, Gabriel Proffer, Gary Naucke, Shea Bird, and Ty Costello.
