

Norris Hyde, 79, of Sikeston, went home on December 9, 2014, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau. Born January 24, 1935, in Manila, Ark., to the late Sam and Irene Thompson Hyde, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps and had been employed by King Equipment Co. He was a charter member of the East Prairie Jaycees, and a member of the Trinity Gospel Church in Sikeston. On August 4, 1967, in East Prairie, he married Verna Smith, who survives of the home.
Additional survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Darren and Penny Hyde of Vanduser; three brothers, Jerome Hyde of Gillespie, Ill., Hughy Hyde of Hillsboro and John Hyde of Barnhart; three sisters, Lynnie Crittenden of House Springs, Colatha Marshall of East Prairie and Bonita Slate of Arnold; one grandson, Jake Hyde of Sikeston; and two step grandchildren, Katie Johnson and Chris Johnson of Vanduser.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Keith Hyde; two brothers, Wesley Hyde and Sam Hyde; and three sisters, Aline Nelson, Dorris Hyde and Bonnie Hyde.
Visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Monday, December 15, with Len Myers, pastor of Trinity Gospel Church, officiating.
Interment will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery.
