Peggy Hughes

She was born to the late Daniel and Pearl Hedger Thurman on March 23, 1938, in Tallapoosa, Missouri.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence "Shorty" Hughes; one brother, Ruben "Bub" Thurman; and four sisters, Aline Rogers, Evaline Ritchie, Imogine "Moe" Cantrell and Virgie "Boots" Yancy.

Surviving are four daughters, Debra Hughes, Ginger Hughes and Annette Wells, all of Sikeston, and Shanna Larson of Cape Girardeau; one beloved nephew, Bob Smith of Thebes, Ill.; and two grandsons, Trenton Hughes of Hobert, Okla. and Julian Yarbrough of Sikeston. Also surviving are three sisters, Gearline Lawson of Sikeston and Janice "Neccy" Brown and Dannie Fern Thurman of Paragould, Ark.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2016, at the Blodgett Cemetery, with Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
