Robert Eugene Smith Sr.

He was born on March 7, 1944 in Walnut Ridge, AR. to the late William and Flora Coe Smith.

On April 18, 2019 in Benton, MO. he married Virginia Axtell-Smith who survives of the home in Sikeston, MO.

Robert owned and operated Smith’s Auto Repair in Sikeston, MO. for forty-two years before retiring in 2017. He was a member of the Sikeston Eagles 3319; he was an avid pool player, he enjoyed stock car racing and he loved watching and listening to his grandson, Trey, play baseball.

In addition to his wife he is survived by one brother, Marvin (Dixie) Smith of Alabama; three sisters, Ruth Ann Boyles of Doniphan, MO., Louise (Doug) Copeland of Arkansas and Penny (Billy) Wheeler of Doniphan, MO.; two grandchildren, Brandi Burton and Trey (Augustus) Smith; eight step-grandchildren, Cody (Tori) Rodgers, Corey Barricklow, Justin Barricklow, Drew Rodgers, Jessica Barricklow, Allie Rodgers, Kyle Rodgers and Riley Rodgers; one great-grandson, Sam Rodgers; one daughter-in-law, Jamie (Tim) Rodgers; two step-daughters, Sharon (Robert) Hinton and Angela Rodgers (Benjamin Quick) and one step-son, Randy (Sherrie) Shaver. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Jane Smith; one son, Robert Eugene Smith Jr.; one daughter, Kemberly Smith; two brothers, Rickey Smith and Clifford Smith and two sisters, Ruby Edgar and Loretta Wheeler.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the VFW, 709 Smith Ave., Sikeston, MO. 63801.
