

Sam graduated from Sikeston High School with the Class of 1979 and was a beloved friend to many. Sam had the privilege of being Director of Systems Development for Alan Wire Company, for whom he worked for 27 years, a vocation which he loved and which provided him with immense satisfaction.
Sam’s passions included spending cherished time with his children and grandchildren, fishing (mostly for catfish), playing golf, rock music, barbecuing, and collecting bourbon. Sam particularly enjoyed visits to Busch Stadium with his family to watch the St. Louis Cardinals and was a devoted fan of the San Francisco 49ers.
He is survived by his adoring wife of 39 years, Shelia Hayes Grady, as well as his beloved children, Joseph Waylon Hayes, Tosha Grady Dorazio, Nicholas Peter Dorazio (son-in-law), Gwyndolyn Serena Grady (John David), and Zachary Samuel James Grady as well as his cherished grandchildren, Emily Kaelynn Miller-Dorazio, Alec Bennett Dorazio, and Andrew Nicholas Dorazio, his sister Elisa Marie Turnbull née Grady, his brother-in-law Kurt Turnbull, and his half-brother Kurt Grady.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Marie Grady née Shy and his father Walter Grady, as well as his aunt, who was a second mother to him, Gwendolyn Louise Shy.
The visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 12th, 2026, at Nunnelee Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., followed by a brief ceremony celebrating his life.
The family kindly asks that those wishing to share fond memories of Sam and the impact he had on their lives to please let them know in advance of the service so that all who wish to speak may be allowed time.
