Vester Lewis Phillips

Sikeston – Vester “Lewis” Phillips, age 96, passed away on November 20, 2019 at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, MO. He was born April 3, 1923 in Fort Douglas, AR. to the late Jesse and Susie Maggard Phillips. On September 15, 1945 in Lamar, AR. he married Thelma Irene Breedlove Phillips who preceded him in death on July 1, 2016. He was a member of Shady Acres Church of Christ in Sikeston, MO. He served in the United States Army during WWII. Survivors include two daughters and two sons-in-law, Melody (Harold) Luscombe of Paducah, KY., Terri (Steven) Bishop of Dexter, MO.; one sister, Ollie Henson of Wichita, KS.; two grandsons, Jason (Beverly) Luscombe and Joshua (Jonalyn) Luscombe of Melber, KY.; three great-grandchildren, Hailey Luscombe, Jaden Luscombe and Jessie Luscombe. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Erica Gentry; three brothers and two sisters. Visitation will be held on Monday November 25, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. until time of funeral service at 7:00 p.m. at Shady Acres Church of Christ in Sikeston, MO. Keith Olbricht and Joshua Luscombe, officiating. Interment will be held on Tuesday November 26, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston, MO. with military honors. Mr. Vester Phillip's and I became very very good friends matter of fact the best of friends during my time of employment . Our thing was watching our St.Louis Cardinals whether win or lose, watching the games with him was our time of bonding and that'll be greatly missed as well as when I used to take him to his appointments in cape .Love you and miss you much my number 1 avid cardinal fan. You got your wings now my friend and no more pain. So I know your watching all the cardinal greats now .Thank you Terri for letting me have a great friend .
