
William Henry "Bill" Stover Jr., 87, of Sikeston, died December 5, 2015, at the Sikeston Convalescent Center. Born February 29, 1928, in Paulsboro, N.J., to the late William Henry and Lucille Griffin Stover Sr., he was trained as an Army paratrooper at Fort Campbell, Ky. He then served as a paratrooper in the 89th Airborne Division of the United States Army during the Korean War. He was the recipient of the Korean service medal with arrowhead, parachutist badge, and earned two bronze service stars. He later became owner/operator of Sonny's Café in Sikeston and also was the manager of the Sikeston Western Auto Store. He was a member and deacon of the Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Miner. On January 9, 1953, in Sikeston, he married Helen Mason, who survives of Sikeston.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 9, at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, with John Tarter, pastor of the Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, officiating.
Interment with full military honors will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
