Adrienne E. Masucci (Aldisert) was born on October 6, 1925, in Carnegie, Pennsylvania, to John S. and Elizabeth Manack Aldisert. She was welcomed into the world by her two beloved older brothers, Caesar and Rugi. Raised to cherish her Italian heritage and her Catholic faith, Adrienne carried those values with her throughout her long and meaningful life.
She was a caring daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, wife, mother, and grandmother. She always had a natural flair for fashion and was impeccably put together, with an eye for detail. Her style reflected a sense of timeless elegance. In her 99 years, she touched many lives with her kindness, grace, and quiet strength — many of whom now welcome her into heaven.
Adrienne graduated from Central High School in Pittsburgh, where she was editor in chief of the school newspaper, a member of the National Honors Society, and named senior class valedictorian. She went on to attend the University of Pittsburgh, working as an assistant to the Dean of Women while earning her degree in English. A proud member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, she remained actively involved in the organization for 75 years. In addition to graduating magna cum laude, she was actively involved in campus leadership through Student Congress and the Pi Delta Epsilon honors fraternity for journalism. She later worked as a secretary in the office of J&L Steel in Pittsburgh.
Through mutual family friends, Adrienne met her husband, Dr. Elmo F. Masucci. They married in 1957 and shared 37 years of marriage. Together, they raised their three children Raymond, Elizabeth, and Andrea in Chevy Chase, Maryland, where Adrienne lived in the same home for over 60 years.
Adrienne was an active member of the Chevy Chase Woman’s Club and an avid bridge player. In her later years, she became a resident of The Solana in Warrington, Pennsylvania, where she remained mentally sharp and socially engaged — reading mystery novels, enjoying games, crossword puzzles, and especially watching Jeopardy! She rooted for the Pitt Panthers, Redskins (Commanders), Georgetown Hoyas, Maryland Terps, and any other teams her family supported.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Elmo; her beloved daughter, Andrea; her parents; and her brothers. Adrienne’s life is celebrated by her children, Raymond (Vickie) Masucci and Elizabeth (Joel) Appelbaum; her grandchildren, Alex, Eric, Carly (Michael), Olivia, and Savannah (Conner); her sister-in-law, Helen Aldisert; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is also remembered with affection by her step-grandchildren, Anthony (MJ) and Brooke (Carey).
