Alan Owen Maurer at the age of 86, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 19, 2025, at George’s Assisted Living in Germantown, Maryland. He was born on May 5, 1939, in Bronx, New York, to his parents, Morris Maurer and Anne Maurer. His late wife, Elayna Maurer, pre-deceased him on February 12, 2023. His twin sister, Paula Katz, passed away in 2017. His nephew, Jeffrey Katz, passed away in 2014. He is survived by his brother-in-law, Larry Katz, his great nephew, Jesse Katz, and his niece, Jennifer Katz.
Alan lived most of his adult life in Adelphi, Maryland after graduating from City College of New York with honors in 1961. He went on to obtain his Masters Degree in Economics from American University, Washington, DC. He worked as an Economist for the U.S. Department of Commerce for over 40 years. He enjoyed traveling with Elayna, including extended international travel. He was also a huge sports fan, especially the NY Mets, and a hockey fan in his younger years.
