Allen was born to Chang and Ching Lao on September 30, 1967 in Wilmington, Delaware. He was the eldest child and has two siblings, Lawrence and Cathy.
Allen completed his Bachelor's degree at the University of Maryland and his Master's degree at the University of California-Berkeley, majoring in Electrical Engineering. He was a true engineering and math whiz, graduating at or near the top of his class in both schools.
Allen's life is mostly remembered by his love for the Lord. He spent the latter years of his life authoring a commentary. He also enjoyed visiting the sick in hospitals, hiking local nature trails, traveling, and playing chess.
He will be greatly missed for his infectious yet humble nature and his warm smile.
Allen was a prayer warrior who believed in praying for others. In lieu of flowers, we request that donations be made to the below organization on his behalf: Silicon Valley Healing Rooms - Experiencing God's Healing Power Through Prayer

Allen was also a very diligent student of the bible and firmly believed in the inerrancy of the scriptures. God's word was a lamp unto his feet, and a light unto his path (Psalm 119:105). Allen would have loved to share the Word of God with others around the world. This aligned with his mission of sharing a bible book commentary he was authoring. In lieu of flowers, we are providing an additional option for donations to be made to the following organization: Bible League International
