Alphonso "Al" McKinley Gantt

Alphonso "Al" McKinley Gantt, age 85, of Silver Spring, Maryland passed away on Monday, June 7, 2021. "Al" was born January 5, 1936 in Winston Salem, North Carolina to Mildred Ernestine (Worthy) Gantt and Melvin Gantt.

"Al" is survived by his wife of 20 years, Jo Ann Gantt. 2 sons, Alphonso M Gantt II (Lisa), Geoffrey Keith Gantt (Angela); 4 Step-children, Nelson Ellis, Victoria Franklin (Del), Alycia Jones and Christopher (CJ) Jones; 6 brothers-in-law, Freddie Ellis (Sharon), Russell Ellis (Renee), Benjamin Ellis, Warren Ellis, Kevin Ellis and Terrence Ellis (Pamela); 5 sisters-in-law, Wanda Gorham, Sharon Ellis-Herndon, Angela Ford (Ty), Ivy Ellis (Ty), and Miriam Ross (Bill); 11 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

"Al" was preceded in death by father Melvin Gantt and mother Mildred Ernestine (Worthy) Gantt, his first wife, Rubye (Sales) Gantt and his brother Donnell Gantt.

A visitation for "Al" will be held Tuesday, June 15, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home, 11800 New Hampshire Avenue, Silver Spring, Maryland 20904. A celebration of life will occur Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at 11:00 AM, 11800 New Hampshire Avenue, Silver Spring, Maryland 20904. A committal service and Burial will occur Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at 12:30 PM at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 13801 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring, Maryland 20906.
