Angela Barr

Angela Agrusti Barr, aged 97, passed away on January 10, 2026. A lifetime resident of Washington DC and suburban Maryland, she was the daughter of Joseph and Frances Agrusti, who preceded her in death, as did her brother, Nicholas Agrusti. She is also predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Edward Barr, who passed away in 2012. She is survived by her only child, Edward Barr Jr., and his wife Laurie, as well as several nephews and a niece.

Angela grew up in DC, graduating from Calvin Coolidge HS in 1946. Her family attended Redeemer Italian Baptist Church on Kirby St. NW throughout her youth. Edward and Angela were married at Chevy Chase Baptist Church in 1957 and attended there for many years. They attended St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in their later years. Her faith and participation in a church were always an important part of her life.

Angela was a homemaker and mother to Edward Jr. during the early years of their marriage. She worked for the Montgomery County Public Schools starting in the mid-1970s and retired in the early 1990s.

She was an avid reader and an opera lover. She traveled several times to see the Metropolitan Opera in New York. She also enjoyed annual trips to Myrtle Beach SC.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home, 11800 New Hampshire Avenue, Silver Spring, MD. A Celebration of Life Memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 10401 Armory Avenue, Kensington MD on Friday January 23, 2026, at 12:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to St. Paul’s UMC.
