

He was born in the town of Pidig in the province of llocos Norte on the island of Luzon in the Philippines on December 20, 1940, to Juan and Bernadina Valentin. He earned his Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) from Manila Central University-College of Medicine in 1964 and immigrated to the United States to complete his residency at Flushing Medical Center in Queens, New York. He furthered his medical training in the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Area at Children’s Hospital and Prince George’s Community Hospital in Cheverly, Maryland. It was here that he met his future bride, Deborah Bernadette Kyano, a registered nurse. After two children and nine years of marriage, they opened a family medicine practice in 1982 in Greenbelt, Maryland, that served residents of Prince George’s County for 40 years.
Dr. Valentin, M.D., was affiliated with Doctors Community Hospital in Goddard, Maryland, and Laurel Regional Hospital in Laurel, Maryland. He was a member of the Philippine Medical Association of Metropolitan Washington, D.C. He spoke Ilocano, Tagalog, English, and Spanish. He was a lifelong resident of Montgomery County. A dedicated father, he enjoyed working in the yard, grilling, laughing, watching WWE, going to sporting events, and attending piano performances for his children and grandchildren. He truly enjoyed supporting his children and grandchildren in every way possible and watching them thrive and succeed.
Dr. Valentin, M.D. is survived by his wife of 54 years Deborah Bernadette Kyano, three children and their partners Antoinette (Valentin) Agarwal (Silver Spring, MD), Deborah (Valentin) Verma (New York City), and Antonio Rudolph Valentin (New York City), four grandchildren Sierra and Zane Agarwal and Aria and Armaan Verma, three siblings Fred Valentin (Fairfax, VA), Norman Valentin (Waipahu, HI), and Emerlyn Valentin (Fairfax, VA) and their families, as well as numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, two grand dogs Loki and Dex, and the recently-deceased Diana Loesevitz (New York City), the oldest grand dog.
The viewing and service are scheduled on Monday, July 28th, from 11:00AM to 1PM at Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home (11800 New Hampshire Ave, Silver Spring, MD 20904)
