
On Friday, August 4, 2017, Bernard Rubinstein, 77, of Washington, DC, passed away due to complications from a 45-year battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Bernie was the son of Samuel and Lillian Rubinstein. He attended Amidon Elementery, Jefferson Junior High School, Coolidge High School and Howard University, working toward a degree in Business. He was a clothier with the Cambridge Shop, Lewis and Dan Brown and S. Kleins. He later became a jeweler for 26 years at Lynn Jewelers of Washington, DC. He retired in 1995 due to his medical condition. His favorite moments were music and singing, crossword puzzles and studying the Bible. Bernie was also a Yiddish scholar and taught Bar Mitvzah lessons with perfection to his students. Bernie is survived by his wife of 50 years, Vivian; a Goddaughter, Jaffa; and step-children, Nicole and Rick. He is also survived by his sister, Bella Smith (Jerome); sister-in-law, Thelma Rubinstein; nieces and nephews, Barry Rubinstein, Lisa Fuller, Shelly Parker, Miriam Ross, Parry Smith and David and Hope Rubinstein; sister-in-law, Diana Lynn (Fred Lipschultz); a host of other nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Arthur and Phillip Rubinstein. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. at Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home, 11800 New Hampshire Avenue, Silver Spring, MD. Interment will follow at Mount Lebanon
Cemetery, Adelphi, MD. Shiva will be announced at services. In lieu of any gifts to the family, contributions may be made in Bernie's honor to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (www.nationalmssociety.org).
