Bernice was born October 17th, 1935 in the Bronx, New York, the daughter of Saul Feingold and Gertrude (Heller) Feingold. Bernice graduated from Upsala College and was a second grade teacher before focusing her work on raising her family.
She was married for 67 beautiful years to her husband, Melvin Irving Slater, who predeceased her in 2023. In addition to her parents and husband, Bernice was also predeceased by her step-mother, Esther (Siegel) Feingold.
She is survived by her children Gerri (Slater) Noesges and Jacqueline (Slater) and Stephen Solomon, and Daniel and Cindi Arost Slater. Bernice was blessed with loving grandchildren: Samantha (Weinstein) and Alex Heisler, Mandi (Solomon) and Jonathan Gold, Robert Weinstein and Emerald Becker, Ryan Solomon, Jacob Slater and Rebecca Simon, and Ben Slater. She was adored by her great grandchildren: Justin Heisler, Brielle Heisler, Jules Weinstein, Mason Weinstein, and Dana Gold. She is also survived by her sister Rhoda (Feingold) Schulman and (the late) Hy Schulman, Aaron Feingold and Brenda Leibowitz, and Gail Feingold and Phil Lake as well as many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
A service of remembrance will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, February 16th at Judean Memorial Gardens Chapel, 16225 Batchellors Forest Rd. Olney, MD 20832.
