Cathy O'brien Ebert

On Thursday, May 23, 2024, at around 1:30 a.m., Cathy O’Brien Ebert, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on Timberlake Drive, Silver Spring, Maryland. She requested cremation, and there will be no burial.

Married on Dewey Beach Delaware, since 1989 to Jeffrey Ebert. Mother of Juliette Priscilla Connell (Tom Connell) of Brisbane, Queensland (Australia) and of Brady O’Brien Ebert of Baltimore, Maryland; also, sister to Kim O’Brien Dunn (Danny Dunn), Richard “Ricky” O’Brien (deceased), and Joyce Doherty, and sister-in-law to Iris Ross (Paul Hespel) and Gary Ebert (deceased).

Cathy was a fearless protestor for the downtrodden and a feisty battler for the voiceless. Her saying was, “If I’m having so much difficulty dealing with people on the phone, then how does an elderly person or one who doesn’t speak the language deal with this?” And she was so generous with those less fortunate, each Christmas, handing out $20 bills in Toys R Us or Kmart to those who couldn’t afford to buy their child a toy.

But who could forget our 4-pound chihuahua Penny, who also died much too soon, and whose ashes have remained with Cathy for several years. Cathy adored that “forever puppy,” who unlike most chihuahuas had love for everyone! We are planning something ceremonial that involves both their ashes and a certain beach, in lieu of a ceremony for Cathy for now.
