Chang Ho Kay

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. Chang Ho Kay, who departed this life on July 18, 2026 at the age of 87.

Mr. Kay was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend whose kindness, wisdom, and quiet strength touched the lives of all who knew him. He was known for his dedication to his family, his generosity toward others, and the values of perseverance and compassion that guided his life.

Born on March 9, 1939 in Korea, Mr. Kay lived the early part of his life in Seoul, Korea. He attended PaeJae High School, Yonsei University (B.A.) and George Washington University (M.B.A.) and married the love of his life, Chunghwa Tai and settled in the DC suburbs where they raised their four children. Mr. Kay created his own small business, Kay & Associates to help fellow Koreans living in the area in starting and maintaining their businesses. Many Koreans in the DC area would seek Mr. Kay’s advice regularly and he would offer it out generously. Mr. Kay lived a life marked by hard work, resilience, and devotion to those he loved. Throughout his career, he earned the respect and admiration of colleagues, friends, and neighbors alike. Whether through his professional accomplishments or the simple acts of kindness he offered every day, he left a lasting impression on many lives.

Above all else, Mr. Kay cherished his family. He took great pride in their achievements and found his greatest joy in the time spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, and extended family.. His legacy will continue through the values he instilled, the memories he created, and the love he shared so freely.

He is survived by his wife, Chunghwa Tai Kay, his children, Christina Kay Kyong, Caroline Kay, David Kay, and Daniel Kay, grandchildren Matthew Kyong, Joseph Kyong, Nicholas Bang, Brandon Kay, Elliot Kay, Evan Kay, and Elias Kay and many other family members and dear friends who will miss him greatly. He was preceded in death by his parents, E Sung Kay and Myung Ku Kay.

Though we mourn his passing, we celebrate a life well lived and a man who made the world a better place through his presence. His memory will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 from 5:00-8:00pm at Hines Rinaldi Funeral Home, 11800 New Hampshire Avenue, Silver Spring, MD 20904. The family welcomes all who wish to pay their respects and honor his life.
