Dale was born on October 11, 1932 to Charles William and Rose Marie Steinhauer in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, where he spent his childhood years with his two younger brothers, Richard and Robert (“Bob”). After graduating from Kingston High School in Kingston Township, Pennsylvania, he earned a B.A. from University of Maryland (“UMD”) in College Park, Maryland.
Dale had many jobs in his lifetime, including coaching football for the Maryland Terps at UMD, night club owner (of The Hungka Mungka) in Ocean City, Maryland, owner of a large cabinet-making shop in Kensington, Maryland and a business that sold kitchens in Gaithersburg, Maryland. However, he found his passion in residential construction and founded Capstone Properties, LLC. For over 30 years, he followed his dream of building and renovating homes in the DC metropolitan area. One of his most memorable achievements was the renovation of a row of buildings in the Anacostia area of Southeast Washington, DC on a street formerly known as “Murder Row” for a non-profit organization called The House DC.
Dale took pride in his ability to create long lasting relationships with everyone he met, including his business customers and partners, parishioners at McLean Bible Church and fellow choir members at National Christian Choir. He sang bass for many years with the National Christian Choir which gave him the opportunity to travel to places such as Jerusalem, Israel.
Dale was pre-deceased by his loving parents, Charles and Rose Steinhauer, and brothers, Richard Steinhauer and Bob Steinhauer. He is survived by his two sons, Kurt Dale Robinson and Adam Dale Steinhauer, his daughter-in-law, Anny Robinson, and his grandchildren, Natalie Robinson, Maddie Steinhauer and Charlie Steinhauer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Dale’s memory to The House DC.
