
David Aaron Levy, passed away on October 26, 2023, at 83 years old.
He is survived by Judy Levy, daughters Michele (Michael) Heffner and Karen (Rick) Moreland, grandchildren Bryan (Lindsey) Heffner, Jason Heffner, Lauren (Sean) Bailey, Matthew (Ashley) Moreland and several great grandchildren. He was a pillar of strength and a source of inspiration for all who knew him.
David was born in Brooklyn, New York to Charles and May Levy. He moved to the Washington DC area to work for the Department of Labor where he worked for 38 years. He also volunteered for the Bowie Volunteer Fire Department for 37 years and served many leadership roles including Chief, Assistant Chief, and President. He received many awards and commendations in both his Department of Labor position and as a fire department volunteer. He was inducted into the Prince George’s County Firefighter Hall of Fame.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, David was a kind, compassionate, and generous soul. He touched the lives of many with his warmth, wisdom, and an understated dry sense of humor. He was a world traveler and visited all 50 states. Always willing to help friends and his community, he would take on many projects including creating a neighborhood directory in Bridgeville, DE fondly referred to as Dave’s List. He was an avid golfer, fisherman and photographer.
David Aaron Levy’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
A graveside service will be held on October 31, 2023, Noon at Garden of Remembrance in Clarksburg, MD. The family requests that donations be made to the Michael J. Fox Parkinson’s Foundation or Temple Emanuel in Kensington, MD.
