
Deborah "Debbie" Taube Hutton, 73, long time resident of Takoma Park and Mt Rainier, MD, passed away on November 23, 2023. She was born on November 27, 1949, in Washington DC. Debbie was a kind and generous person, always thinking of others. She was a thoughtful friend and a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and cousin.
Debbie is survived by her loving husband, Bruce Hutton, her sons Ethan and Daniel Hutton, her daughter-in-law Deborah Hutton, and her grandchildren Max and Jacob Hutton. She is also survived by her sister Susan Schwelling. Debbie was preceded in death by her brother Donald Taube, her father Mortimer Taube, and her mother Bernice Taube.
Debbie attended Chevy Chase Elementary School, Leland Junior High School and Bethesda Chevy Chase High School. She furthered her education at Hiram College.
Throughout her career, Debbie worked as a paraprofessional in the Montgomery County Public Schools, serving at East Silver Spring Elementary School, New Hampshire Estates Elementary School, and Takoma Park Elementary School.
Debbie worshipped at Temple Sinai. Being Jewish was an important part of her life.
In her free time, Debbie was an active volunteer. She was one of the founders of the Washington Folk Festival and served on the board of Daleview pool for many years when her children were growing up. Debbie enjoyed reading and was a valued member of a book group for years. She had a knack for thrift store shopping and bargain hunting and always had ideas and advice to share.
Debbie's kind spirit and selflessness will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 1st at 10am at Temple Shalom (8401 Grubb Rd Chevy Chase MD). Burial immediately following at Garden of Remembrance Memorial Park (14321 Comus Rd, Clarksburg, MD).
Shiva will be held at Temple Shalom on Sunday, December 3rd, 1-3pm and Monday December 4th, 7-9 pm.
