I was so saddened to hear of the passing of Ellen. She was such an important person in my life. I was blessed when she chose me to be her Secretary (my official title on paper although she called me her Assistant) when she was the Deputy Chief of Staff at Commerce. She was so kind to everyone around her and treated everyone as an equal even though she was the smartest person in the room. I loved watching her interact with all of the many personalities she had to deal with in her position. She was always calm and in control and very respectful to everyone. And she was so funny. We had so many fun times laughing with each other and sharing stories about our children together. Her family meant everything to her. I remember when she was researching sites to find a Cavalier King Charles dog for her kids and when she finally found the one she was looking for. She invited me to Michael’s bar mitzvah and it meant so much to me and I loved that experience. Ellen was a wonderful person who touched every person she came in contact with. She has left an incredible legacy for Michael and Jenna. I will never forget her.

Ellen was my friend and buddy at the Commerce Department. She was always available to provide advice and guidance, and her instincts were impeccable. And in the worst of times, her incredible sense of humor made things bearable. All of us who knew her, family a and friends alike, are blessed to have had her as part of our universe. She will dwell in our hearts forever.

Ellen and I worked together on some Ohio projects and investigations when we served in the Senate with Senators Metzenbaum and Glenn, respectively. She was always quick on her feet and dedicated to serving and advancing the public's interest and knowledge of government. And someone who had a genuine sense of humor. A pleasure to have known and worked with Ellen. May her memory be a blessing. Brian
