It feels like I lost a sister!   Vera and I have know each other since we were 7 years old.  We grew up in Philadelphia.  Our parents were good friends.  We have been in each other’s lives through good times,  celebrations and sad times.

After  Vera  and her family moved to Washington, our families continued their closeness.  Vera and  I spent weeks visiting each other’s homes during summers.  We each would be put on a train and our parents would  meet us on the other end (no child abduction fears at that time).

Filomena, Vera’s mother, was my sister Olga’s godmother and thereafter was known as Comare Filomena to us all.

Weddings, births (I’m Lisa’s Godmother), christenings and tragedies we were there for each other.

Five years ago, when I moved to Lewes, DE,  Vera and I were  again living in the  same town.  It was comforting to know that my friend was just 5 minutes away and I know she felt the same way.

I will truly miss Vera - the “Happy Hours” and dinners we shared with Tina and her friends.  Most of all, I will miss Vera’s courage and strength to face life and carry on when faced with adversary.

May you Rest In Peace, Vera - until we meet again!

Too many over 70 yrs  i loved Vera from the first time I met her and it never stopped.She was the most caring and compassionate person I’ve ever  known. I still have tops she would send me because she thought I would look good in them ,love you Vera

Last evening as soon as I hit the link and went to this memorial site, I spent the rest of the night looking at Vera from baby to 90 years old! So, so beautifully done..an act of love, for sure.
I met her Mom, Dad, family and friends, picture by picture, those I’ve heard about in many of Vera’s stories. Now, I look across the street to the home she loved so much and send up a quick “Hi! Vera!” with a prayer…  We miss you but find comfort knowing you are surrounded by your many loved ones who went home before you. Peace is yours~ Alleluia! 
They say a picture is worth a thousand words and these pictures Sing of your Mom's inner light and zest for life; her strong faith and ‘can-do’ spirit. These photo’s show 90 years of a lot of living & loving going on. Vera & John, have been a blessing to many and have touched many lives… just so grateful we were neighbors & friends.

The summer after my late husband Bud and I were married, we were invited to Uncle Johnny’s and Aunt Vera’s house for “spaghetti and crabs”.  I already knew how yummy there were but this was Bud’s first time.  Of course I had to get the recipe because he loved them.  
Her rum cake and Italian cookies also were off the charts!

I had met Vera on February 5, 2020 as she was in her driveway trying to carry a box to the curb. We hit it off from that moment and became BFF's instantly! I will cherish the short amount of time spent with her this past year!  Our every day chats, morning coffee meetings, daily shopping trips, visits to the chapel, drives along the beach and boardwalk areas and watching the nightly news together on my evening walks with Lovey.  She has been a true blessing in my life and I miss her so much.  I am so grateful for her in my life!  Until we meet again girlfriend, love you so much!  Tina, Lisa and family, I am so so sorry for your loss. Mom was a true gem!! May she rest in peace! 

We were so fortunate to be Vera and John’s next door neighbors in Lewes. We were the lucky recipients of Vera’s Italian Rum cake among other delicious treats too numerous to mention! Our daughters always knew where they could go for ice cream or chocolate as they were growing up! We could always count on a good story, friendly and good humored neighbors and friends and comfort knowing Vera and John were next door. Now the view out my kitchen window feels lonely without Vera in it. We miss them both and our thoughts go out to Tina, Lisa and Vera’s entire family.


I had a very special connection with Vira. She was like a second mom to me but also a very special friend.  I will always cherish the time that we spent together and her insight on life.  The perspectives she shared with me are something I will hold close to my heart for the rest of my years.  "Creepy" I miss you so very much and the joy you gave me spending time with you.  Heaven gained one "spicy" angel and I am sure she is smiling down at all of us! I love you Vira!  

She was my Dear Godmother . And great friend to my parents . She will be missed . To the family I am so sorry for your loss
