Biography

George Albert Cameron was born in Clarendon, Jamaica on April 12, 1926, to the late Reginald and Marie Cameron. He was the eldest of three children. George migrated to the United States in December of 1967, residing in the District of Columbia until he married Hope McNaught in 1975, later moving to the state of Maryland.

George enjoyed gardening, listening to music, and watching television. His favorite shows were “As Time Goes By,” “Family Feud,” “Keeping Up Appearances,” and “America’s Funniest Home Videos.” He also enjoyed having a few cocktails, with Gin the chaser of choice. George’s happiest moments however were him being surrounded by family and friends, who loved him dearly.

He worked at the Chevy Chase Country Club for 25 years, at which he retired after becoming ill.

George passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, July 7, 2019, at the age of 93 years old. He is survived by his loving wife, Hope Cameron, brother, Segismond Cameron, step-son, Burt Henry, and step-daughter, Clouda Adekanmbi.

Additional survivors are his son-in-law Taiwo Adekanmbi, granddaughters Adebimpe, Omoniyi, and Oluseyi Adekanmbi, Khayla Robinson, and grandson Stefon Henry, and other relatives.

George is also survived by his nieces Regina and Catherine Cameron, and nephews, Patrick and Jesse Cameron and a host of family and friends in the United States of America and Jamaica.

We will not mourn his loss, but we will celebrate his memories.
