

She was 95 years old.
Born November 29th1930, in Washington, D.C., Helen was the daughter of Oscar Ray Witmer and Francis Mary Wieland. Helen shared a long life with her late husband Commander Andre B. Cobet, USN whom she married on August 13th 1953.
Together, they raised two sons, Paul and Dean Cobet. They led a traditional United States Navy life filled with 13 relocations together (five coast to coast and one out to Jakarta Indonesia and back).
Helen, while a typically quiet person, was quite creative, expressing herself in painting (oils and watercolors), ceramics, fabricating porcelain dolls and crafting her own greeting cards.

Helen was an avid reader. She especially liked the Jack Reacher, Bosch, Lincoln Lawyer series of novels and other adventurous stories.
Helen and Andre’s legacy is reflected in their two sons, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A gathering of family and friends will be held on July 24th 2026 at Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home located at 11800 New Hampshire Ave, Silver Spring MD 20904
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Hospice Savannah located in Savannah Georgia. The Hospice Savannah staff provided compassionate care for Helen and kept her comfortable during her final days.
Helen will be profoundly missed by her family and who were privileged to know her.
A Memorial Service will be held at Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home, 11800 NEW HAMPSHIRE AVE, SILVER SPRING, MD 20904, US, on July 24, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
