Jacqueline Gail Emerson, a longtime resident of Brookeville, Maryland, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2025. She was born on December 1, 1940, in New York, to Francis Nauheimer and Catherine Derouin. Jacqueline was raised in Watertown with her brothers Robert and Gary and sister Cynthia Derouin and stepfather Leon Derouin.
On September 28, 1959, Jacqueline married the love of her life, Herbert Clarence Emerson. They shared a devoted partnership until his passing in March 2013. Together they built a life filled with love and cherished memories.
Jacqueline dedicated over four decades to her career in telecommunications, working for Bell Atlantic Telephone for 30 years before continuing as a consultant with Verizon for an additional 15 years. Her professionalism and commitment left a lasting impression on colleagues and clients alike.
A woman of many passions, Jacqueline was known for her kindness and generosity. She was a dedicated family matriarch who delighted in hosting gatherings by the pool for family and neighbors. She had an eye for beauty and detail, evident in her prolific antique collection and her pride in always having beautifully manicured nails. Jacqueline also enjoyed lunching with friends and doting on her beloved dogs.
She is survived by her brother Gary Derouin (wife Laurie), sister-in-law Toni Derouin of Watertown, New York, Her daughters Ruth Emerson Lee (husband James), Catherine Ryan, grandchildren; Kyle Ryan, James H. Lee, Samantha Ryan Culbertson, Michelle Lee Binseel, Logan Ryan, Sydney Ryan, and Amanda Lee, three great-grandchildren, along with numerous loved ones who will forever cherish her memory.
Burial services are to be determined, followed by a celebration of life where family and friends will come together to honor Jacqueline’s remarkable legacy. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.
