

John Ward, 82, of Silver Spring, MD passed away at his home on April 20th, 2021.
John was born on March 30th, 1939 to Edith Cessna Ward (née Grose) and Herman Samuel Ward in Washington, DC. After graduating from Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring, he worked for the United States Postal Service for many years. He was a self-taught small engine mechanic, and enjoyed repairing lawn mowers for his many friends and neighbors.
John had one son John Carter Ward, Jr. and one daughter Nancy Joan Braatz.
After retiring, John spent his time hunting, fishing, and practicing taxidermy. He also enjoyed celebrating the holidays with his extended family at Barbara Wisda’s house, his second cousin.
John was predeceased by his parents, his daughter, and his cousins Mary Lou Armiger, Margaret Ann Sheetz, Elmer Vickers, and Edith “Eee” Carter Baum.
He is survived by his son John Carter Ward Jr., his grandson John Carter Ward III, and his granddaughter Rebecca Kathleen Ward.
In addition to his son and grandchildren, John is survived by his cousin Earl Armiger and his special friend Dianne Bertsch.
