Born in London in January 1930, she died on May 15, 2026. As a young lady she survived the blitz, loved ballroom dancing, spent 3 years in the British army, was presented to Princess Margaret, and was one of the first female managers at Lloyds Bank before moving to the US as a nanny in 1959. She then worked for an airline in Las Vegas, before coming to Washington DC where she worked as a producer for the Steve Allison talk show, following which she became an executive secretary before marrying Charles McClure, her husband of 55 years. She is survived by her husband, her niece Amanda Bailey and other nieces and nephews and their many children and grandchildren in England. She is also survived by many friends on this side of ‘the pond’ including Mark Stein who she refers to as the son she never had, Alison, Lisa, Elaine, Judy, Tanya and the Quills and Cowans of Highland MD who considered her family, the Packford family in Edmonton and police officers Luke and Matt.
