Julia Duane

Born on July 3, 1935, in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of Edwin L Rogers Sr and Vivian B Rogers. She graduated from Montgomery Blair in 1953 and went on to become a secretary and administrative assistant for over 40 years. She was married to the father of her children, Ralph B Duane Sr from 1956 until 1976.

She worked for many years as a government secretary and later as a secretarial contractor until the age of 82. She was a lifelong learner, an avid duplicate bridge player, and a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who showed her love in countless thoughtful ways. She will be remembered for her quiet strength, independence, humor, and generous heart.

She is survived by her three children, Ralph (Janet), Sue and Jay, and Ron (Lori); five grandchildren, Jason (Anastasia), Matthew (Diana), Zachary (Shania), Traci (Todd) Robinson, and Ron Jr.; and ten great-grandchildren, Alex, James, Oliver, Vera, Effie Mae, Jacob, Charlie, Teddy, Max, and Lorelai. She was preceded in death by her brother Edwin (Buddy) Jr and sister Jane R Block.

A memorial service will be held on Oct 8, 2026 at 11:00AM at Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home (11800 New Hampshire Ave., Silver Spring, MD 20904).
