

Julia M. (Babal) Salamon, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, age 92, died on August 05, 2017 in Silver Spring, Maryland. She was born in a house on Plum Street in Woodvale, Johnstown on April 19, 1925, the first surviving child of Alois and Mary (Harman) Babal, Slovak immigrants. Julia attended Saints Peter and Paul Catholic school and church through eighth grade, and then Johnstown Catholic High School, graduating in 1943.
Julia worked at National Radiator in Johnstown for twelve years, and she formed many close friendships there. Julia married Stephen Andrew Salamon, of Windber, Pa. (Mine 42) and was happily married for until his death in 1993. She is survived by children Stephen, and daughter-in-law Rebecca; Thomas; Kathleen Dorantes, and son-in law Jimmy; Mary Cialkowski, and son-in-law Edward; grandchildren Matthew, Peter, and Kathryn Cialkowski and Allison Dorantes; great-grandchild Dawson Cialkowski; and brother Robert Babal, of Dayton, Ohio. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Al and Bernard.
Viewing will be held Wednesday, August 9 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home in Silver Spring, Maryland, 11800 New Hampshire Avenue. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, August 10, at 10:30 am at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church, 12319 New Hampshire Avenue, Silver Spring, Md. Interment will be private at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, Maryland.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to the Cure Alzheimer’s Fund (curealz.org).
