Katherine Moore McCormick, 63, of Oak Island, North Carolina passed away peacefully on 3 October. Born March 11, 1959, in San Diego, California, to Commander William Newton Moore, USN, Retired, and Ruth S. Moore.
She graduated from the Univ. of Maryland in 1981 where she received a BS in Journalism. Her long career allowed her to see the world, contribute to the leading women’s professional groups in DC and edit two published books. She made her family’s life extraordinary and her kids’ lives wonderful. Kathy was loved for her kindness, joy and the appreciation that every day was meant to be cherished. She led her family to the mountains to ski, the coast to swim and the west to enjoy the beauty of the world we live in.
Katherine is survived by her spouse William E. McCormick and children William ‘Drew’ and Maura; her siblings Teresa Moore, John Moore (Paula), and Paul Moore (Wendi); mother Ruth and her father’s widow Nona.
Kathy had started to make friends and found many new interests in Oak Island. Among them was preserving the natural wildlife.
