

Kathie E. Stevens, 74, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2024. Born in Fort Worth,Texas, she was the daughter of the late Denman Stevens and Helen Lester Stevens. She was a 1968 graduate of Hackett High School in Hackett, Arkansas. After graduation, Kathie took a job with the federal government in Washington D.C. in the General Services Administration. This turned into a 48 year career with the government, finishing as an accountant with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Kathie retired in 2016 to enjoy more time to travel.
Kathie was an avid reader, and shared her love of reading with her friends and family. She was always sending books she had enjoyed to others to read. Family meant everything to Kathie. It was very important to Kathie to stay in touch with her family. She was eager to join them around the country for visits, celebrations, and in times of need. She never missed acknowledging her loved ones’ birthdays. Kathie also enjoyed the company of her close friends, going to lunch, the movies, and discussing their favorite tv shows. She loved to tell stories.
Kathie is survived by her loving siblings: Cheryl Kokoszka (John) of Lee, MA; Joe Stevens (Darlene) of Smithville, OK; Philip Stevens (Deanna) of Mena, AR; Patsy Van Houten of Mulberry, AR; and Perry Stevens (Michelle) of Blossom, TX; as well as her sister in law Carol Stevens of Fort Worth, TX. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers David, Johnny, and Steve; her stepmother Myrtle Marrel, and her brother in law Ronald Van Houten.
Memorial services for Kathie will be private. If you wish to honor Kathie, please make a donation in her memory to a charity of your choice, or donate a book to a local organization to spread her love of reading.
