Linda Bartok of Bethesda, MD passed away February 9, 2025. She was born January 4, 1953 to Donald and Lula Mae Pope of Manhattan, Kansas. Linda was one of four children and spent her childhood as an Army brat, growing up on military bases around the world. She graduated from Junction City High School and then worked locally at Fort Riley for the next several years. She was set up on a blind date with CPT Louis Bartok and on November 1, 1980, they were married in Oklahoma City, OK. They spent the next 18 years travelling around the world with their kids and the Army - Germany, Georgia, Kansas, Italy, Indiana, France, and Hungary - before deciding to settle down in Seaford, VA. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and crafting but her biggest passion was gardening and she tended to her plants with patience and dedication. She became a Master Gardener through the York County Extension Office and used that knowledge while working at the local garden shops and volunteering with friends. She was a devoted mother and is survived by her son, Christopher Bartok of Alexandria, VA, daughter Lauren Ryscavage (Mark), and granddaughter Ava of Bethesda, MD, and brother, Thomas Pope of Gilbert, AZ. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Louis Bartok, her parents, Donald Sr. and Lula Mae Pope; and her brothers, Donald Pope Jr.and Robert Charles Pope. A joy of life celebration will be held at a later date.
