Lucrene Brezier

Lucerne Brezier, 92, passed away peacefully surrounded by people she loved on April 23rd in Silver Spring, MD. Lucerne was born on October 11, 1933 in Petit trou de Nippes, Haiti to Ulysse Binot and Meprisanne Brezier. She spent most of her early years here, giving birth to 3 daughters that sadly passed. In time, she moved to Port-au-Prince, Haiti. During her time there discovering comfort and safety in this new area. She was employed as a personal chef at a doctor’s office, where people really loved her cooking so much that she’d work there for more than 20 years. Lucerne was the embodiment of what you see when thinking of a loving, funny and caring person. With this intention she built a strong community, and met Sergo where God blessed them with the gift of their daughter, Guilene Brezier. By the same token, she taught her along with many others around her how imperative it is to learn how to cook in order to nourish themselves and those close to them. Lucerne in the same fashion loved comedy, and would always make those around laugh and take the weight of their shoulders. Moreover, she enjoyed singing, cooking, puzzles, dancing, her favorite color was light blue, had a cute obsession with bubble wrap, and growing her own garden of food to eat. All in all, she never hesitated to call and reach out to friends and family in other states as well as back home in Haiti. In one word, Lucerne was an “anchor”, having so much love to give coupled with so many ways of bringing people closer together.

Lucerne is predeceased by her parents Ulysse Binot and Meprisanne Brezier, her

brothers Olga Binot, Gabart Binot, Raoul Binot, and sisters Clarisse Binnot and Jeannine Binot.

She gave birth to 4 amazing daughters, and sadly 3 passed away. In due time, Lucerne moved from home and resided in Port-au-Prince until the 2010 earthquake, bringing her here to safety living the rest of her years with her daughter Guilene Brezier, her sons, Cedric Dubreuil, Laurent Dubreuil, Christian Dubreuil, and daughter Coralie Jean-Claude.
