Mary Soon Ai Kim (nee Baick) was born in Seoul, South Korea on October 2, 1939. The Lord took her home in her sleep on June 14, 2020. She did not know her biological parents, but was adopted as an infant by Mr. and Mrs. Song Kwon Baick. She married Yohn Sik Kim in the fall of 1967, and had four children Ashley Shin Ja Rhee; Kristin So Young Jackson; Hyun Wook Brian Kim; and James Hyun Joong Kim. In 1974, her husband immigrated to the US, then brought Mary and the children to the States in 1976.
Mary accepted Jesus as her Savior and Lord after high school and though her parents disowned her for her faith, she continued to grow in her personal walk with Jesus. She also vowed to praise the Lord all her life, joining the church choir in keeping with her promise. Her favorite hymns were: In the Garden; Take Me As I Am; and Near the Cross. She was ordained as a deaconess (Geep Sa Neem) in the 1979 then a Mother of the Church in 1983 (Kwon Sa Neem). Though she was short in stature, she was a mighty prayer warrior and spent every morning from 4 am to 6 am praying for her husband, children, her church and those things God laid on her heart. She loved to cook for her family, friends and church family. She gave generously to her church and to those in needs without asking anything in return.
Mary leaves behind her loving husband of 53 years Yohn Sik Kim; her daughters Ashley Shin Ja Rhee (David); Kristin SoYoung Jackson (Anthony); and sons Hyun Wook Brian Kim and James Hyun Joong Kim; Sons-in-laws David and Anthony, daughter-in-law Annie Kyoung Eun and grandchildren Elise, Talia, Nia, Anthony II (TJ), Jeremiah, Joanne and Daniel….Until we meet again at Jesus’ feet.
A private graveside service for the family will be held on Sunday, July 12, 2020. A public going home service will be held at a later time for friends.
