Mary G. Mickens passed away peacefully on June 30, 2022 at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, Md. She lived for 101 glorious years. She was born in Cheraw, SC on May 19, 1921 to Frank and Vashti Grady as their only child.
The family moved to Roanoke, Va and later to Washington, DC where Mary graduated from Cardozo High School and then attended Minor Teachers College(DC Teachers College). She soon after met and married Charles W. Mickens. Their marriage lasted for over 53 years until the death of Charles in 1999.
She is survived by her three daughters, Valois Mickens, Deborah Curtis (Marlon Curtis-son in law), Michele Mickens and grandsons, Chriztopher Mickens-Zaborowski, Marlon and Edward Curtis, as well as two great grandsons, Rahzeem and Zario Curtis.
Arrangements:
The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 22nd, 11am, at Colesville United Methodist Church located at 52 Randolph Road, Silver Spring, MD. The burial will follow and take place at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery located at 4001 Suitland Rd, Hillcrest Heights, MD.
