Diane was born and raised in Baltimore. As a teenager, she moved to Glen Burnie and graduated from Glen Burnie High School in 1963. After high school, Diane worked for the National Security Agency for a time but left to raise her two young sons, William and David. Later, she worked for BFI Waste Management for many years as an Office Manager. Don and Diane met in the spring of 1995 at a singles dance in Severna Park. That following Christmas, Don went to her work Christmas party which was attended by more than two hundred employees. They announced the Employee of the Year and it was Diane!
Diane was a big Orioles fan and enjoyed taking her sons to games when they were young. She liked doing crossword puzzles and working on 1000 piece jigsaw puzzles. Diane loved traveling with her devoted husband, Don. Her favorite trips were when they twice visited Italy and when they went on a Rhine River cruise.
Diane and Don enjoyed going out to dinner and she was known for posting photos of their meals on Facebook. She was fond of crab cakes, veal marsala, and a glass (or two) of Pouilly-Fuisse with dinner! They liked to sit at the bar and, within a few moments, Diane would be chatting with the bartender and other patrons and making new friends.
Diane loved the beach and being near the water. She was particularly fond of Clearwater Beach, Florida because that is where her cherished son, David, settled. She so looked forward to taking the Auto Train to Florida each November and spending the winter at their condominium in Clearwater.
Diane was predeceased by her parents, William and Mary Roberts, her brother, Michael Roberts, and her son, William Law. She is survived by her beloved husband, Donald Mizell, and her loving son, David Law. Diane had a zest for life and she will be dearly missed by cherished nieces and nephews, relatives, and numerous friends, especially David Wimbush.
Visitation is from 4 pm until 8 pm on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home located at 11800 New Hampshire Avenue, Silver Spring, Maryland 20904. (May 14th is Diane’s and Don’s wedding anniversary).
