Melissa Hope Davis was born in Washington, DC to Edward H. and Diana Davis on July 16, 1990. She passed away on July 21, 2026 at the age of 36. Raised in Silver Spring, MD, Melissa attended Cresthaven Elementary School, Francis Scott Key Middle School, and graduated from Springbrook High School in 2008. Melissa studied medical coding at Montgomery College and was planning to pursue her Chiropractic Assistant Certification.
She was passionate about helping others and worked in the healthcare field since 2008. She was a strong advocate for hospice services and end of life care, having worked at multiple hospice organizations in the area. She always treated patients and their families with care and respect as they navigated a difficult time in their lives. Melissa continued this high-level of compassionate care into her work in chiropractic services, where she greeted patients with kindness and warmth at Vitality Chiropractic in Rockville, MD.
During high school, Melissa was a cheerleader and Assistant to the Girls’ Basketball Team. Her love of sports only grew, becoming a dedicated fan to the Baltimore Ravens Football Team. Every time the Ravens played, Melissa could be found glued to the score and ready to talk stats and trades with anyone who would listen.
Melissa has always been extremely passionate about animals. There wasn’t a dog or a duck she met that she didn’t love. She is joining her cherished animal friends Pixie, Donald, and Deuces.
Melissa is survived by her parents; older sisters Bridgette, Nanette, and Hannah Hastings (Clint); nieces (Jonae, Jenae, Stella, Carolena); great niece (Jenna); uncles, aunts, cousins and many friends. She is preceded in death by her beloved maternal grandparents (LaVern and Carol Sheets); and paternal grandmother (Mittie Slater).
