Mitchell Schuster, 74, beloved brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on Jan. 8 from complications related to COVID-19. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. and for 40 years, worked as a messenger for J.P Morgan Chase and Bank of New York. His work often took him to the World Trade Center. He witnessed the 9/11 attacks from several blocks away and in the aftermath, walked for six hours to return home to Brooklyn.
He came to Maryland in 2008 and for the past four years, resided at an Assisted Living facility in Adelphi. He made many wonderful friends among the residents and staff and enjoyed sharing his love of baseball and music. He knew the words to hundreds of songs. Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, he looked forward to weekly singalongs with his family over the phone every Saturday night.
Mitchell Schuster was a kind gentle soul who will be greatly missed. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Steven and Michelle Schuster, nieces Claire Schuster (Haroot Hakopian) and Emily Schuster (David Bauckham), and grandnephews Isaiah and Noah and grandniece Liana. Donations in his memory may be made to the Family and Nursing Care Foundation, Integrated Living Opportunities, and Pitch In for Baseball and Softball.
