Olatunji Adetokonboh Mumuni was born in Washington, DC, on August 4, 1978, the precious only child of Stephen and Pamela Mumuni. Tunji received his early education at the Barry School in Silver Spring, MD. In those years, the seed of his lifelong love of sports was sown. He would later attend and graduate from Springbrook High School. His education continued in Maine where he attended Bridgton Academy for one year before eventually transferring to New Hampshire college where he was a member of the basketball team. Tunji loved sports and was an excellent soccer and basketball player. He represented Springbrook Blue Devils in both soccer and basketball and the Seneca Lions in the MSI Soccer league. This love of sports was only rivaled by his love of music and good food. These passions led to a serious hobby in DeeJaying and a career alongside his father in Catering. Let us not forget he was a beach bum at heart just like the rest of his cousins. He spent many a day frolicking at Brown’s Beach in Barbados. Tunji’s loving, charming, generous and selfless spirit was nurtured both in his nuclear family and among his many cousins with whom he was very close especially Kirk and Lisa who cared for and nurtured himself and Shawn during the many summer months spent in Barbados during their early childhood under the eagle eye of their beloved grandmother. He particularly treasured his “brother” Shawn with whom he shared all aspects of his life. Family life for the Mumunis’ was shattered in 2009 with the heartbreaking death of Tunji’s beloved mother Pamela. From the shattered pieces of that tragedy, an inseparable bond between father and son was formed. In his dad’s words “Tunji was my everything”. Tunji met his partner Dominique in 2013 and after a three year courtship, they were married on January 15, 2016. His bear hugs and endearing smile will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him dearly. Tunji is survived by his dad Stephen Mumuni; his wife Dominique; his grandmother Merle Arthur; his aunts Clover Arthur-Ellis and Marcia Miller; his cousins Shawn Ellis, Lisa Stiebel, Kirk Miller, Akilah Thomas, Dayo Dixon, Anike Arthur, Eshe Price; Donna, Leslie, Frances and Gizelle Forde; Bisi, Alan, Blossom and Annabelle Mumuni; his Godparents Gboyega Ademiluyi, Yvonne Edwards, Frances Harris, and Marc Christophe; close childhood friends Danielle and Marc Christophe; close family friends Barbara Christophe, Mozella, Seyi, and Yemi Ademiluyi; and many other friends and relatives.
