

Dr. Owen D. Nichols was called home on May 19, 2018. He was born on April 4, 1929 in Raleigh, NC to William and Pearl Nichols. Dr. Nichols was a long time Vice President at Howard University. He was involved in many community activities, including being the co-founder of the African American Festival of Academic Achievement in Montgomery County. He was always a dedicated member of his church and choir where he is known for his beautiful baritone voice. He is survived by his two children, Bryan and Diane; three grandchildren Giorgio, Shayne, and Robert; two great-grandchildren, Camdyn and Major; and his sisters Marie, Pearl, Margaret and Cynthia. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Delores Tucker Nichols; his brothers William, Edward, and Eugene; and his sisters Sarah Lee and Doris. Funeral services will be held at Colesville United Methodist Church at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 26, preceded at the church by a viewing beginning at 11 a.m. All donations can be sent to Colesville United Methodist Church as a memorial to Dr. Owen D. Nichols.
